UOITFA Collegial Governance Update: OTU Strategy and Planning to discuss Differentiated Growth behind closed doors

Ontario Tech’s Board of Governors is shutting the community out of important conversations regarding Enrolment and the University’s Differentiated growth Agenda – plans stemming from this conversation could directly impact our teaching and learning conditions.

This is the second time this year that a strategic update or conversation has moved behind closed doors. This is concerning as we all know that issues can emerge when University Governors make decisions in isolation without including the University’s biggest stakeholders: its faculty, staff and students.

Decisions about academic plans should be made in consultation with those of us who are in the labs and classroom delivering the high-quality education that Ontario Tech has become known for – so why was this issue not brought before OTU’s academic decision makers at January’s Academic Council?
