At today’s UOIT Board of Governors meeting, the Student Association and the Faculty Association made presentations to the UOIT Board of Governors regarding a policy passed at the previous meeting (UOIT’s Annual General Meeting of the Board) that sought to restrict the public’s participation in Board meetings and meetings of its committees.

A joint press release (see below) was put out by the Faculty Association, Local 555 of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, and the Student Association on the recent policy shift at the Board of Governors AGM.
“It is with deep regret that we voice our opposition to the extension of the current president’s term due to his systemic deepening of the democratic deficit in collegial governance at UOIT, his targeted interventions against the career advancement of senior female faculty, and his sequestering of significant financial surpluses while diminishing UOIT’s academic mission.”
